Im Rahmen des sechsten Monats der Fotografie Off Berlin präsentieren Monika Barth und Eva Brunner ihre neuen Werke in der Galerie The Ballery im Nollendorfkiez.

soulscapes: Seelenlandschaften

Monika Barths Bilder sind ein Versuch, im "Gefundenen" die Grenzen der Wirklichkeit zu überschreiten. Sie sind eine Einladung, sich auf Naheliegendes einzulassen und jenseits der Oberflächen und Spiegelungen eine Vielfalt tieferer Wahrnehmung zu erfahren. Himmel, Erde, Wolken, Wasser, Steine und Pflanzen bilden einen Kosmos der Elemente auf kleinstem Raum, in dem sich zutiefst persönliche Empfindungen und Sehnsüchte reflektieren.

Monika Barth ist seit Jahrzehnten als Schauspielerin für Theater und Fernsehen und als Synchron- und Hörspielsprecherin tätig. Nach einem Medizinstudium arbeitete sie zeitweise als Ärztin in einer Facharztpraxis, nach einer Kuba-Reise widmete sie sich verstärkt der Fotografie und veröffentlichte Fotobände wie “Mona L.” (2018) und “La Lunga Strada” im Kehrer Verlag (2020).

EVA BRUNNER perchance to dream

In „perchance to dream“ entführt uns die Schweizer Fotografin und Autorin Eva Brunner in eine Welt zwischen Fantasie und Wirklichkeit, zwischen Authentizität und Inszenierung. Wie in einem Tagtraum gehen wir auf eine Reise mit ständig wechselnden Szenerien in urbanen Räumen und Naturwelten, immer an der Schnittstelle von Privatheit und Öffentlichkeit. Permanent präsent im Fluss der Bilder nimmt dabei ihre Muse, der Science-Fiction-Autor Bernhard Kempen, unterschiedliche Rollen an, als Partner und in seiner Transidentität als Barbara. Gemeinsam schaffen sie ein visuelles Narrativ, das traditionelle Grenzen durchbricht.

Eva Brunner war Schülerin im letzten Meisterkurs von Prof. Arno Fischer an der Ostkreuzschule für Fotografie Berlin. Es folgten Seminare bei Todd Weinstein, Anders Petersen, Sven Marquardt und Wolfgang Zurborn. Evas Werke werden im In- und Ausland in zahlreichen Einzel- und Gruppenausstellungen gezeigt. Ende 2020 erschien ihr erster Fotoband „No Escape from Paradise“ (Edition Babev).

soulscapes: landscapes of the soul:

Monika Barth’s photographs of „found stills“ are an attempt to transcend the boundaries of reality. They are an invitation to engage with the obvious and to perceive what is hidden behind reflective surfaces. Sky, earth, clouds, water, stones and plants form a cosmos of elements in the smallest of spaces, reflecting deeply personal feelings and desires.

Monika Barth has worked for decades as an actress for theatre and television and as a dubbing artist and radio play narrator. After studying medicine, she worked for a time as a doctor in a specialist practice. After travelling to Cuba, she devoted herself increasingly to photography and published photo books such as ‘Mona L.’ (2018) and ‘La Lunga Strada’ with Kehrer Verlag (2020).

EVA BRUNNER perchance to dream

In “perchance to dream”, Swiss photographer and author Eva Brunner takes us into a world between fantasy and reality, between authenticity and staging. As if in a daydream, we embark on a journey with constantly changing scenery in urban spaces and natural worlds, always at the interface between the private and the public. Permanently present in the flow of images, her muse, the science fiction author Bernhard Kempen, takes on different roles, as a partner and in his trans identity as Barbara. Together they create a visual narrative that breaks through traditional boundaries.

Eva Brunner was a student in Prof Arno Fischer's last masterclass at the Ostkreuzschule für Fotografie Berlin. This was followed by seminars with Todd Weinstein, Anders Petersen, Sven Marquardt and Wolfgang Zurborn. Eva's work has been shown in numerous solo and group exhibitions in Germany and abroad. Her first photo book ‘No Escape from Paradise’ (Edition Babev) was published at the end of 2020.
